Improving performance

How can I get even more FPS?

Video Settings

  • Render distance - affects how far you see and has a high impact on performance. Lowering that is the first thing to try.

  • Simulation distance - affects entity (mob) spawning and movement. If you're using big mob farms, you may want to lower this.

  • VSync - limits your framerate to your screen's Hz, which may give you a smooth game that uses less system resources, but may also add input lag. Read morearrow-up-right

    • If available, try using Adaptive VSync before disabling it entirely.

  • Max framerate - similar to VSync, but you manually control the maximum frame rate.

  • Leaves - Fast mode can improve performance. It is recommended to change this option separately from the general option.

  • Particles - the modpack allows you to set the number of particles (all/decreased/minimal), as well as disable them separately in the "Particles" tab.

  • Entity distance - like render distance, but for entities.

The tooltips of the options usually give you good info on the impact and the effects of each option.

Allocating RAM

Depending on your goals, it is recommended to set the following limits:

  • 2 GB for normal use

  • 4 GB for most users

  • 6+ GB if you play with large render distance, shaders, heavy resource packs, etc.

Additional mods

These mods can improve performance, but are not included in the modpack for various reasons.
